Our university has signed a first in Turkey in scientific publishing, moving 7 international academic journals under NEU Press to the Digital Commons platform in collaboration with Elsevier, the world’s largest academic publisher. With this transition, NEU Press has become the first academic publisher in Turkey to integrate into the Elsevier Digital Commons platform. This strategic move demonstrates that our university is simultaneously achieving its scientific production capacity, digital publishing vision, and global accessibility goals. Dr. Fatih Kaleci, Scientific Publications Coordinator, stated: "NEU Press is a corporate academic publisher operating under Necmettin Erbakan University, specializing in scientific book and journal publishing. The main mission of NEU Press is to enable Turkish academia to integrate more strongly with universal science, to offer sustainable, transparent, and digital solutions to researchers in their publishing processes, and to become more visible in international indexes in university publishing. NEU Press produces multilingual publications that appeal not only nationally but also to the international academic community. With 32 peer-reviewed international academic journals, NEU Press has published more than 500 academic books and generated over 2,000 articles and scientific outputs. Continuing its activities with regularly conducted publishing training programs, NEU Press has become one of Turkey’s rising university publishers." Kaleci also mentioned the benefits of the transition: "Elsevier Digital Commons is a scientific publishing platform that offers advanced features in terms of open access, impact, and indexability, preferred by many respected universities and research institutions worldwide. With this transition, NEU Press publications now have a publishing infrastructure that has global reach, is integrated with academic protocols such as OAI-PMH, Crossref, ORCID, DOI, is more compatible with Google Scholar, Scopus and WoS indexes, and provides analytics based on altmetric and citation data, ensuring high visibility and impact factor increase." Expressing that this work is a guiding model for all universities in Turkey, Dr. Kaleci said: "The successful implementation of digital transformation, open access, and impact factor-oriented strategies in publishing strengthens Necmettin Erbakan University's position in the academic world day by day. Our university's publishing policy aims to increase its national and international impact. In this sense, this innovative step of NEU Press will set an example for other universities. The 7 international academic journals that transitioned to the Elsevier Digital Commons platform under NEU Press are: Journal of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Journal of Pediatric Neurology, Journal of Pediatric Epilepsy, Journal of Pediatric Genetics, Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care, Journal of Child Science, and Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation with Applications (MMNSA).
