2. Personal Data Processed
The following categories of personal data are processed as part of the journal submission, evaluation, publication and payment processes carried out by NEVA:
- Identity: first name, surname
- Contact: email address, telephone number, address, institutional details
- Professional/Academic Information: title, affiliated institution, ORCID, article/work details
- Financial Information: payment method (credit/debit card or bank transfer), payment amount, currency, transaction date, transaction reference number; For bank transfer/EFT payments, additionally the sender’s first name, surname and/or title, part of the sender’s IBAN details and information in the reference field (card details such as card number and CVV are not processed by NEVA but are collected directly by the authorised bank or payment institution)
- Transaction Security: IP address, log records, browser/device information
3. Purposes of Processing Personal Data
- Managing the submission, review, peer-review and publication processes for articles submitted to journals
- Collecting article processing charges (APCs), and managing accounting and financial processes
- Managing contract processes and handling payment and refund requests
- Maintaining communication with users and providing support services
- Complying with legal obligations (tax legislation, accounting record-keeping, audits, etc.)
- Implementing information security processes, managing legal disputes and safeguarding NEVA’s legal rights
4. Parties to Whom Personal Data May Be Transferred and the Purpose of the Transfer
Your personal data will be processed in accordance with the conditions set out in Articles 8 and 9 of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) and limited to the purposes listed above;
- To the contracted bank or payment institution for the purpose of processing the payment,
- To authorised public institutions and organisations within the framework of legal obligations (tax offices, supervisory authorities, etc.),
- To journal management systems/service providers for the purpose of carrying out the journal’s editorial and publication processes,
- To consultants providing legal support and, where necessary, to judicial authorities, may be transferred.
5. Method and Legal Basis for the Collection of Personal Data
Your personal data is collected electronically via journal management/submission systems, the website and payment pages, electronic forms and email correspondence, based on the information you provide.
Your personal data is processed on the legal grounds set out in Article 5 of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK): where the processing is directly related to the conclusion or performance of a contract; where it is necessary to fulfil a legal obligation; where it is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim; and where you have given your explicit consent.
6. Rights of the Data Subject (Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law)
In accordance with Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Act (KVKK), as a data subject whose personal data is being processed, you have the following rights:
- To find out whether your personal data is being processed,
- To request information regarding the processing of your personal data, if it has been processed,
- To find out the purpose of the processing of your personal data and whether it is being used in accordance with that purpose,
- To know the third parties to whom your personal data has been transferred, whether within or outside the country,
- To request the rectification of your personal data if it has been processed incompletely or incorrectly,
- To request the erasure or destruction of your personal data in accordance with the conditions set out in Article 7 of the KVKK,
- To request that third parties to whom personal data has been transferred be notified of any rectification, erasure or destruction,
- To object to a decision made solely through the automated processing of your personal data that adversely affects you,
- To claim compensation for any damage suffered as a result of the unlawful processing of your personal data.

You may submit your requests regarding the rights listed above to NEVA in writing, along with documents verifying your identity, or through the contact channels listed below, in accordance with the procedures set forth in Article 13 of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK):

NEVA will process your request free of charge as soon as possible and no later than the statutory deadlines, depending on the nature of the request. If the process incurs additional costs, a fee may be charged in accordance with the tariff established by the Personal Data Protection Board.
